100 + 1: A postscript

100 Days P.S.:  The Santa Barbara Museum of Art currently has an exhibit of photos taken in the New York subways in the 1960s by photographer Enrico Natali. It inspired me to rummage through my own archives and dig up this image which I shot many years ago, and which fits in with my 100 Days theme. So what if it's a day late? It's never too late to dream...

Day 100 - Farewell

Parting thoughts: Today is the final installment in my 100 Days project. I bid you all a fond farewell. Many thanks to everyone who participated as a fellow photographer, artist, writer, collaborator, critic, provocateur, or simply as an anonymous viewer (and you know who you are!). Please stay in touch: leave a comment here, drop me an email, friend me on Facebook, or do it the old-fashioned way: pick up the phone and call me sometime! And check back here––who knows, I may decide to go for another century. But for now, bidding you all cheers from cyberspace!
Adieu!

Day 98

Counting down to 100 days. Had to slip this one in for Billie. Those brown eyes...
Watching, waiting

Day 97

How could I miss these for Valentine's Day? His and hers lobster swimwear, for the couple that likes to cling to each other.

Day 95

For as long as I can remember, my mom would always go to the beauty parlor once a week. Still does. Whenever I'm visiting, I like take her out for lunch afterwards. I guess it's a girl thing.

Day 94

There's something sort of pre-historic about palm trees... I almost expect to see a dinosaur around the corner.

"Someday my prince will come..."
Oh wait, I think that's him over on the corner!
Happy Valentine's Day!

Day 87

Can't decide whether to call this one "Moonrise over Badrock Canyon," (the literal description, with reference to a certain classic in photographic history), or alternately, "The Yellow House" (a subtle ploy to direct you-the-viewer's attention away from the obvious). Taking votes.
Title TBD

Day 80

Hallelujah! The US Forest Service will allow the Whitefish Mountain Jesus statue to stay put for another ten years. I suppose this also means they are postponing the Second Coming until 2022. Mark your calendars. [To read about the continuing controversy, click here.]

Day 79

This one's from another morning, another walk: somebody's makeshift garden, planted along the cement banks of the Los Angeles River. Brings to mind the old spiritual song, "Down by the Riverside." (lyrics to follow)

Down by the LA River

"Gonna lay down my burden,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside.
Gonna lay down my burden,
Down by the riverside,
Down by the riverside.
Chorus:
I ain't go study war no more,
  study war no more,
ain't go study war no more.
I ain't go study war no more,
  study war no more,
ain't go study oh war no more.

Gonna lay down my sword and shield
Down by the riverside...
  Chorus
Gonna try on my long white robe
Down by the riverside...
  Chorus
Gonna try on my starry crown
Down by the riverside...
  Chorus
Gonna put on my golden shoes
Down by the riverside...
 Chorus
Gonna talk with the Prince of Peace
Down by the riverside...
 Chorus

Gonna shake hands around the world
Down by the riverside..."
