July 1: Au Revoir, France

After three relatively short weeks, we bid adieu to France. We leave today with many fond memories (and more than a few bottles of above-average French wine). Looking forward to returning again soon!
"Take me home, country roads." For the most part, the backroads in France were great for cycling and discovery. Superbe!
We'll not forget your petites madeleines, these ones courtesy of Dominique and Francois (and Marcel Proust, of course)
Genealogy discovery: The Ackerman winery outside of Saumur, a champagne-style winery founded in 1811. Could we be related? (My mother's mother was an Ackerman.) Pourquoi pas!
France's famous sunflower fields were only just beginning to bloom--another reason we will have to return!
Another great B&B discovery: the Manoir Du Bois Noblet, outside of Louerre (Loire Valley)
Alas, France is now in the rearview mirror
